This program is available to current HGR Elite team members only. It will be coached by Bryan Brazill, Peter Smyth and Scott Corcoran on the boys side of the ball and Kristy Robertson and Jess Upton on the girls side of the ball.

Clinics will be organized by position—midfielders, attackmen/attackers, and defenders—rather than by age.

These clinics will function like private lessons in a group setting: each player, a ball, the net, and a coach providing instruction and correction. Because players will train individually within the group, differences in age, skill level, and athleticism will not limit the quality of training. Training multiple age groups together also offers two key benefits: younger players can model the pace and work ethic of older players, while older players can mentor and help coach younger players—reinforcing their own learning through teaching.

Attack and midfield clinics will focus on offensive development, including stick work, stick protection, dodging, re-dodging, and shooting. Each skill will be taught with a higher level of detail and precision. Dodging will place a high emphasis on footwork efficiency and deception. We will review initiating with the ball, off the catch, re-dodging, read progressions for feeding, and how to get shots off creatively from tough spots. Shooting will focus heavily on biomechanics and kinetic movement, increasing power and how and when to use deception. Attack clinics will differ from midfield clinics in the angles and areas of the field they are attacking from.

Defensive clinics will utilize volunteer players from the attack and midfield clinics. These volunteer players will not be directly coached by our coaching staff but used to train our defenders more effectively. Defensive clinics will focus on stick work, foot work, approach and slide angles, arriving and staying on double teams, how and when to peel, how and when to throw takeaway checks and more.

If you’re on our elite teams and you’re not doing these clinics you’re missing out.

These classes will sell out quickly and all participants in session I will have right of first refusal for session. The same will be true of session II participants for session III.
